Though struggling midseason with some of the same growing pains as Season 1 the 93-94 Season 2 handles character departures and the introduction of the Watchers in fine form- allowing Highlander: The Series to come into its own away from the film franchise. With one last kenning Joshua’s player gives himself an additional dot of Athletics, raising his own athletics to Cade’s own level (3 dots).Highlander Season 2 Finds Its Legs By Kristin Battestella Spring boarding from the pluses of its debut season, Highlander: The Series opens its second season strongly. Looking over Cade’s Merits Joshua’s Player realized that he possessed the “Cursed” merit (fat lot of good that did him) and thinks that it would be a good twist, spending one Kenning on it. ![]() Joshua’s player wants it but only has one dot of Socialize, forcing him to spend one Kenning to raise his Socialize to two dots before granting himself the Bar Fly merit with another, leaving him with two dots of Kenning. Joshua’s own persuasion is 0 and he likes the idea of the once shy and bookish immortal suddenly becoming more confident with people, women especially, spending two kenning to raise his persuasion to 1 and granting himself Seduction.Ĭade was a Mask and was very good at blending in, possessing the Bar Fly merit. ![]() Joshua’s player looks over Cade’s sheet and sees that Cade was quite the ladies’ man, possessing the Persuasion 4 and a specialty in Seduction. Joshua, being a Book, immediately gains the “Recognition” Trick. When an Immortal’s Kenning rises they immediately gain a number of Tricks equal to their new dots of Kenning, they may choose any tricks that the loser possessed or one connected to their own Code.įor Example - Joshua take Cade’s head, Cade had 3 Quickening and 4 Quickening Beats which add to Joshua’s 3 Quickening and 3 Quickened Beats for 1 Kenning, 2 Quickening and 2 Quickened Beats raising Joshua’s Kenning to 4.The Immortal may gain an additional kenning dot to spend by lowering their honor rating to that of their fallen foe.The Immortal may raise his own Honor rating to that of their fallen foe for one Kenning.The Immortal may choose to use Kenning to purchase Quickening on a one for one basis.If they instead choose to gain an appropriate merit, than they gain the merit in full, regardless of the number of dots that it would cost.The Victor is than granted a number of Skills that the loser possessed, gaining either a dot, or a Specialty from said skill.When a head is taken A character’s Quickening is transferred directly from one sheet to the other.My friend Justin came up with the core of it: Okay, here's a bit of System that I'm actually quite proud of. #HIGHLANDER THE NEW WATCHER CHRONICLES INSTALLER FULL#The Watchers – A full rewrite, updating them as a hunter style conspiracy focused specifically on the Immortals.Tricks – revise current ones, maybe add “Advanced Tricks” also, if you possess “Mirrors” adding in the Skill Tricks from that book.Innate Abilities – New uses for edge, new effects based upon new merits and conditions, Immortal specific Tilts and the like.Kenning – The system is pretty well set up as is, though the God Machine has opened up new ideas.In addition, we have a couple of new uses for the trait Specifically, we’ve dropped the “Per turn” system entirely, allowing an immortal to “use or lose their edge” at their own pace. Edge – Minor revision on the expenditure and regeneration of one’s edge.Quickening – A complete overhaul of the Quickening rules allowing for faster and more streamlined quickenings and making use of the new Beat system.Also revising the benefits so that they fit with GMC rules. Codes – A complete overhaul, introducing Factions, focusing their "purpose" and giveing them an all around better feel now that we've been playing for six years.Conditions – Passionless, Discovered, Rusty and a slew of others that set immortals apart from those around them.Merits – A host of new merits that would help to better realize an immortal concept.Reputation – Currently a simple Merit, I’m thinking about expanding it into a full Y Axis.After all, those without passion are lost. These “Passions” are treated as long term Aspirations and are not expected to be resolved within a story and when they are they are hard to replace. The second is more personal and reflects what drives the immortal to pull himself out of bed each morning and continue living, how he keeps from completely losing his mind. The first ties in directly to the character’s Code, directing how and/or why they continue to play the game. As such each Immortal is possessed of two Passions. Passions – While immortals possess Aspirations just like anyone else they also lead incredibly long lives that, without something to live for, would quickly fall into monotony. ![]()
